A well-made, emotional documentary with a positive message and ending. Very impressive doco. An interesting, thoroughly credible central character, with a harrowing story to tell; tempered with a philosophical strength and good humour that is inspiring….. This is a powerful, uplifting story, fashioned out of gritty, uncompromising raw material. Everyone should see it. -- Leon Saunders - Author “The Gaze of Dogs”. | Wow! Eddie Haworth shows extraordinary courage in That Fat Bloke from Bolton, sharing his traumatic childhood abuse and its subsequent impact on his life. To have now reached a point where he gives the gift of happiness to children in remote villages in Thailand—through the clown-based entertainment routine he’s refined over decades—is just an enormous feat. We hear about victims of sexual abuse on the news, but the details of what they suffered—what it was really like, and how it has truly affected their lives—is not the story we usually hear. But this is the story Eddie tells, an important and memorable story, and it’s told with candour and simplicity. Inspiring. Wonderful |
…..a magnificent and inspiring story of survival and contribution. So beautifully detailed in its execution and so insightful and honest in its content. That Fat Bloke from Bolton has captured something really precious about the best and worst of humanity.
Fabulous. Such a poignant and meaningful story about a lost boy, who has become a remarkable man... a healing journey for Our Times.
