More about this so-called Fat Bloke from Bolton...
By the time he reached his teenage years, Eddie had lost his way in life and ran away from home to become a casual labourer, rough sleeper and a typical 1960s pot-smoking hippy. He spent a short time in a young offender's boot-camp prison before meeting his first "future ex-wife" and fathering their two children.
By the time he reached his early 30s, he'd travelled extensively, working throughout Europe as a street entertainer, casual worker and Circus entertainer. That’s when he met his second "future ex-wife" who he cherished before she abruptly left him after 10 years, because he had become very possessive and dismissive… “both very common patterns of behaviour displayed by victims of child abuse”. |
Devastated by the loss of his only true love, Eddie drifted back into alcoholism, drugs and nicotine addictions before attempting suicide on the banks of the river Mersey in Liverpool, UK. Happily, he was saved by a passer-by and that led him to accept some much-needed therapy to help him understand how his entire adult life had been so badly moulded when his innocence was ripped away from him by an evil sexual predator at the tender age of aged six.
Despite having no formal academic qualifications, he's thrived as an entertainer and general worker during his travels throughout the whole of Europe, Scandinavia, the USA, Middle Eastern counties, India, China and pretty much every country in Southeast Asia. In 2019 Eddie was greatly honoured to become a "Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts" based in London. Eddie's Fellowship was awarded in recognition of his significant contributions to supporting vulnerable people living in the slums of Bangkok and in Hill-Tribe communities located in Jungles straddling the Thailand/Burma borders. Eddie has also received a total of seven commendations from British, Australian, French and South African Ambassadors to Thailand and he's been honoured with numerous accolades from Rotary International and a number of awards from Circus and professional juggling organisations. |

Quote, Eddie; It has been a very long, difficult journey of survival since I ran away from Bolton in 1967. But my story has a delightfully happy ending and, indeed, it continues to be a very happy story for me and many thousands of very needy people who continue to survive even worse hardships than I did. Now, it's my passion to help victims of child abuse, become survivors by sharing my story in the hope that it may help others discover that it's possible to live with what happened to them and keep moving forward in positive ways through this short life we all have. Eddie's Charity work...

In 2005, he Founded and registered a charity in Thailand serving, around 2,000 people in need every month of the year with educational supplies, toys, clothing and other essential goods.
As a professional comedy entertainer in the style of "Mr Bean", Eddie has performed his hilarious comedy performances for literally hundreds of thousands of people who live in the slums of Bangkok, hill tribe communities and refugee camps along the Thai/Burma border.
Eddie's return to Bolton...
Eddie returned to the UK from Bangkok in March 2020 to visit one of his eight grandchildren in Scotland. The plane landed at Edinburgh Airport on the same day that a nationwide Covid lock down started. (All the pubs were shut!).
After only a couple of weeks he became very sick with stomach problems and spent eight weeks alone, mainly in bed, with medications posted through the door. This period of incarceration gave Eddie time to reconsider returning to Thailand where he'd lived for 20 years and it was impossible to travel anyway, so Eddie has remained in the UK ever since. He still directs operations remotely at the Thai registered Charity that he founded in 2009, the Gift of Happiness Foundation. And travels to and from Thailand as often as possible where he continues to perform his slapstick comedy shows and aid-giving projects supporting some of Thailand's neediest people. |
Following the very sad and untimely MND death of his sister, Sue at her home in Bolton, Eddie decided to settled back into his home-town after almost five decades of world travel, in early 2022.
Eddie is delighted to re-settle in Bolton, where he is now looking at ways to present and share his unique life story and his award winning TV documentary, "That Fat Bloke from Bolton". His book, (pre launch title, "One Night in Shanghai" should be published in late 2024 and will be available on this site. |
