Still Standing
STILL STANDING
(Reflections of a Travelling Buffoon)
|
Poetic, Direct, and Defiantly Hopeful
Written by Eddie Haworth FRSA – Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts This page is more than a collection of stories; it’s a reckoning. A quiet archive of suffering transmuted into strength, of chaos distilled into clarity. It’s a legacy not of perfection, but of persistence. A testament to the idea that even the most fractured life can be stitched into something worth sharing, and that laughter reclaimed from darkness carries a wisdom no textbook ever taught. Alongside musings, a TV documentary, and a poem or two, stitched with grit and grace, you’ll find the raw reflections of a well-travelled buffoon who spent four decades making hundreds of thousands laugh, sometimes to tears. But here, the spotlight turns inward. These writings reveal the roots of the buffoonery, the shadows behind the smile, and the scars that shaped the showman. They are deeply personal, sometimes painful, and not always easy reading. Still, these writings are offered from the heart for those who’ve suffered, for those still suffering, for anyone reckless enough to believe survival is possible, and even for the comfortably unscathed, who’ve never danced with despair but fancy a peek behind the greasepaint, to see what “Tears of a Clown” might actually look like when they’re not set to music. If you’re not easily shaken, read on. And if you are, read anyway. Because what’s shared here might just help some victims become survivors. |

Update from the Buffoon’s Desk...
With regret, but no apology, I’ve removed the file "Reflexions of a Travelling Buffoon" from this site after discovering an attempt to plagiarise my work.
It’s a shame, but not a defeat, and my TV documentary "That Fat Bloke from Bolton" is still well worth a look at. Just scroll to the next section of this page.
The good news? I’m working toward publishing the whole book before the end of October.
So, please stay tuned here and on my Dr Percey Veer - Faceache page for updates.
To those lovely souls who’ve already read the original 30-page collection and sent kind words and thoughtful reviews, thank you. Your support means the world to me!
