About This So-Called Fat Bloke from Bolton...
In Eddie’s own words:
"I ran away from Bolton at fifteen, back in 1967. It’s been a long, difficult road of survival ever since—but one with a delightfully happy ending. And the story continues, bringing joy and hope not just to me, but to thousands of people who’ve endured far worse than I ever did."

From the cobbled streets of Bolton to the back alleys of Bangkok, Eddie’s journey defies convention. With no formal academic qualifications, he carved out a life as an entertainer and general worker across Europe, Scandinavia, the USA, the Middle East, India, China, and nearly every corner of Southeast Asia.
In 2019, Eddie was honoured as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, in recognition of his tireless work supporting vulnerable communities in Bangkok’s slums and the Hill-Tribe villages along the Thailand–Burma border. His efforts have earned him seven commendations from British, Australian, French, and South African Ambassadors to Thailand, alongside accolades from Rotary International and awards from circus and juggling associations worldwide. Eddie has also lectured on Slapstick Comedy Performance at leading international schools, including Harrow, Regents, St Andrews, Shrewsbury, Berkeley International, and Wells International, as well as at universities across Bangkok. |
Today, Eddie is devoted to helping survivors of child abuse reclaim their lives. By sharing his own story, he hopes to inspire others to live with purpose, resilience, and a healthy dose of humour, no matter what they’ve faced.
