That Fat Bloke from Bolton
About this so-called Fat Bloke from Bolton... ( AKA Eddie Haworth & Percey Veer )
Quote, Eddie Haworth FRSA
I was raised in Bolton by a loving family who were unaware of the dark secrets that filled me with a great need to express myself, often in the wrong way but also through my artistic side. I spent most of my adult life working as a labourer, driver, engineer and street performance artist, before becoming a professional entertainer in the mid 80s. I founded a Charity that supports vulnerable families living in poverty and I've picked up a few awards over the years, but I'm still a down-to-earth bloke from Bolton with a bit of a story to tell... |
Although I have no academic qualifications, I believe I have gathered a wealth of knowledge through experience, surviving the rigors of life as a hand-to-mouth itinerant worker and as an entertainer living in countries throughout the world for more than 40 years before returning to Bolton.

- Having struggled with life-long depression, interrupted by long bouts of mental stability and happiness as I reached my late 50s...
I just realised that my recent feelings of depression (now 70-yrs-old) are not related to my past struggles and in fact, I'm not depressed at all!
I've simply reached an age when I really can't be arsed about doing anything that I don't fancy doing or dealing with other people's negativity...
So, I'm off out to take a few more photos of my beautiful hometown and I wish all the grumpy old peeps of the world a little time to reflect on positive ways to spend what little time we all have on this planet...
Note from Eddie, May 2023.
Just sayin... as I enter the final phase of my existence on this planet... My life has been an amazing roller coaster, filled with ups and downs that have all been very character building to say the least...
I'm so glad that it will end with me knowing absolutely nothing about anything that's been shown on TV or anything that's been published in the press, as I haven't had a TV for at least 18 years and I've never read any newspapers since the 4th of May 1979. I'm also happy to know that I've never seen any so-called block buster films in my entire life, even the ones I've been in.
My only concern is for young people who are being born into this world where they will grow up struggling to deal with problems caused by global markets, domestics wars and climate change.
I'm sorry and I'm ashamed... I and my generation should have done more to stop the rot that started in the 70s and 80s.
